{"id":230,"date":"2014-11-24T03:02:16","date_gmt":"2014-11-24T03:02:16","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/st-athanasius.ca\/nl\/?page_id=230"},"modified":"2020-03-26T17:10:08","modified_gmt":"2020-03-26T23:10:08","slug":"catechism","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/st-athanasius.ca\/nl\/evangelization\/catechism\/","title":{"rendered":"Catechism"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Catechism is held on\u00a0<strong>Monday nights from\u00a06:00 p.m.\u00a0\u2013 8:00\u00a0p.m.<\/strong> The program is open to anyone from <strong>grades 1 \u2013 7.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Program Format:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The normal format of the Catechism program is as follows:<\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>6:00PM \u2013 6:30PM:\u00a0<\/strong><em>Children\u2019s Divine Liturgy and a spiritual message by the priest \/ lesson of the day<\/em><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #800000;\"><strong>6:40PM \u2013 <\/strong><em>Lesson time in assigned classrooms<\/em><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #008000;\"><strong>7:40PM \u2013 8:00PM: <\/strong>Children\u2019s choir practice in the church<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>8:00PM \u2013 home time: <\/strong>Supervised free time in the gym<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Program Overview:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The children\u2019s Catechism program strives to support parents in passing on their Ukrainian Catholic faith to the children who attend. We are so happy to see young families participate and are edified by their commitment to raise their children with knowledge of the teachings and traditions of the Ukrainian Catholic Church. \u00a0Our program is open to all children who would like to experience the Ukrainian Catholic Faith. \u00a0The children who attend our program are friendly, kind, and faithful kids who will make anyone attending feel welcome. \u00a0They have a great time making connections and playing together in our Church hall at the beginning of each Catechism evening.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">We have talented and dedicated teachers who bring the children through their lessons.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Children\u2019s Choir:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>At 7:40<\/strong>, the children gather in the church for their choir practice to pray together singing praises to God.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The children\u2019s choir leads the congregation in singing one Sunday a month.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Together with our parish priest and catechists we guide the children through the Divine Liturgy encouraging them to participate in a way that is alive, awake, alert, and enthusiastic.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Friendship:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>At 8:00<\/strong>, or shortly before, the children are dismissed and most choose to stay a while so that they can continue building their Church friendships and have fun in our parish gym together. \u00a0We encourage this because God created us to live and worship in relationship. \u00a0We need each other to build the Kingdom of God.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Please contact the parish office to register your child.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Catechism is held on\u00a0Monday nights from\u00a06:00 p.m.\u00a0\u2013 8:00\u00a0p.m. The program is open to anyone from grades 1 \u2013 7.
